Current Sermon Series: When You Pray

We find Jesus making his longest exhortation in the Sermon on the Mount on the topic of prayer. He begins by saying, “When you pray.” The standard practice of Christians is to include prayer. He lays out some guardrails on how not to pray, but the Master does not just leave us wondering what to do. Instead, Jesus provides a model prayer for His disciples.

But, we might ask, “Why do I pray?” Why do we seek to have intentional communication with God? Both the Old Testament and New Testament provide a great amount of content on this very question. To boil it down to a single word: Relationship. Prayer is both a sign and source of a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Over the month of November, we will spend time exploring and being encouraged to pray and by our prayers.
